Running shoes play an important part in how one performs.

Example: I wore a specific shoe when I started running. As my endurance improved the shoes started hindering my run. My feet pronate and found Mizuno running shoes provided the best comfort when running.

Has anyone had a similar experience with running shoes? Do you have a favorite brand of running shoe?

  1. I have found that the right shoes are important, but it sometimes takes a lot of time and money to find the perfect pair. I don't run, but walk and bike and I usually get new balence or Nike.

  2. Isn't it also funny how you can buy the most expensive shoe thinking it is the best and it doesn't fit your foot well and ends up causing you more pain than if you were to buy the less expensive shoe? I have bought Ecco and the Walking Company Shoes and he says New Balance feels the best. I guess our feet know what they like.

  3. Obviously, I have little experience with running shoes:) However, I do have experience with working on my feet for about 30 years. I can attest to shoes as being one of the most important investments you can make for your body. Shoes effect feet, posture, balance and many other things you would not think about. It is important to go to a place like Smart Feet or Comfort Plus or a sports medicine store to be properly fitted in a shoe that you will be wearing during activity. I will have to check out Foot Diagnostics. I am always looking for a great place to buy orthopedic shoes.

  4. I have more cross-trainers than running shoes but I just can't help it, I love my Nike's. I just asked my husband and he said his favorites are Asics. Happy feet = happy heart, right?

  5. I agree that it is very important to have the right shoes whether you are running, walking, exercising or on your feet all the time with your job. A friend of mine was a runner and she was buying $100 plus running shoes every three months? Is that common for that sport?

    1. The distance I run has increased over the last year, this was my question as well, how often should you replace your shoes? asked several runners that workout at my gym, they told me every 6 months or 600 miles, this was the average response. This year I am monitoring both miles and time in months and how my shoes feel when running. Did not find any definitive information on the subject.

  6. I have heard of people getting shin splints because they don’t have good shoes when they run. I know my husband tries to rotate his shoes when he runs on the treadmill. He says it wears them down faster.

    1. My shins started to hurt last year when running over 6 miles, investigated and found my shoes were the problem. Like the idea of rotating shoes, never thought about the treadmill wearing shoes out faster.
