When tracking progress does anyone use something different besides time and distance?

When I started running I measured nothing, I just ran! Only after a year of running and the NIKE running app did I start tracking distance and time.  I stared pushing myself to improve after measuring my time and will continue to challenge  myself to improve.

  1. I don't run; however, I walk and I use a pedometer or the program/app on my I-phone. They have some really cool ones or my shuffle has a fitness module which is really cool too.

  2. Scott, I'm not a very good runner, even though I would like to be. I am obligated to maintain a certain type of phyical fittness because I am in the military and running for time is one the requirment. I have always hated running for time and the scale the military uses for reservist comparied to active duty personal. It not totally unfair but I think it time for a change. Now back to the subject and to my question. What do you like doing best, running for time or just getting out there and just run? For me I like to just run that way when I'm done my tongue is not dragging the gound.

  5. I don't think it really matters....what does matter is that you are doing something....walking or running, biking, skating, what matters is that you are up and doing something besides sitting on your couch eating bon-bons!!!
